Mediahuis Ireland has announced the acquisition of a significant stake in Clubber, Ireland’s rapidly growing sports streaming platform. As part of the agreement, Mediahuis Ireland will join the Clubber board, supporting the company’s ambitious expansion into GAA and a broad range of Irish and international sports.
Clubber is a leading streaming platform for live sports in Ireland, with a strong focus on GAA. Clubber delivered 1,000 live & on-demand sports events in 2024 to dedicated fanbases across the globe.
Built on a scalable, tech-driven infrastructure, they specialise in acquiring rights to a large volume of live sports to provide a comprehensive offering to fans. These are typically rights that are historically under commercialised yet rich in engagement, community, and loyalty. The proven model brings professional grade production and frictionless digital distribution to these underserved markets, unlocking new value for rightsholders and unprecedented access for fans.
Following success in Ireland, the next step is expanding into the UK, replicating the playbook across a broader range of sports and competitions.
The company was founded by current CEO Jimmy Doyle in 2020. Jimmy has a long history of software development at scale from 25 years at Microsoft. He has built a strong team around him with deep experience in telecommunications, commercial business modelling, full stack development, design & marketing. Clubber has also built a large partner network of highly skilled videographers and commentators that produce the live action on a daily basis.
Clubber is building the infrastructure for the next wave of live sports broadcasting, where every tier of competition can find its audience, and every audience can find its sport.
